Home Sale Prices Dip

MLS: Metro Milwaukee homes sales dip 5.7%

Date: Thursday, March 10, 2011, 2:58pm CST
Home sales fell 5.7 percent in the Milwaukee area in February compared with the same period last year, according statistics released Friday by Metro MLS Inc.
The decline comes after the new year began on a strong note with home sales increasing 17.9 percent in January.
The decline in sales in February isn’t causing much concern among brokers since sales in winter months often fluctuate from year-to-year, according to the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors.
Overall, home sales in the metro area are up 4.8 percent for 2011.
Home sales varied widely by county in February. Sales in Milwaukee County declined 8.3 percent, while Waukesha County experienced a 2.4 percent increase. Washington County had a strong month, with homes sales coming in 27.5 percent ahead of 2010.
Home sales in Racine County declined 16.7 percent and plummeted 34 percent in Ozaukee County.

$8000 First Time Buyer Credit

Just a reminder there is still a $8000.00 tax credit for home buyers this year- see below if it applies to you or anyone you know-

Members of the military and certain other federal employees serving outside the U.S. have an extra year to buy a principal residence in the U.S. and qualify for the credit. Thus, an eligible taxpayer must buy, or enter into a binding contract to buy, a principal residence on or before April 30, 2011. If a binding contract is entered into by that date, the taxpayer has until June 30, 2011, to close on the purchase.  Members of the uniformed services, members of the Foreign Service and employees of the intelligence community are eligible for this special rule. It applies to any individual (and, if married, the individual’s spouse) who serves on qualified official extended duty service outside of the United States for at least 90 days during the period beginning after Dec. 31, 2008, and ending before May 1, 2010.

Again please pass this along to individuals you may know.

Sincerely
Rose Vidmar
